Our Mission
When the Way I Served Changed, the Calling Didn't
For most of my life, caring for others hasn't simply been my career—it has been part of who I am.
I am a Nurse Practitioner with a career rooted in healthcare and Emergency Medicine. I spent my days caring for people during some of their most frightening, painful, and vulnerable moments. Whether someone came through the doors sick, injured, scared, or simply needing someone to listen, I had the privilege of being there.
I have always believed that while we may provide the medicine, God provides the healing. My hands were simply hands He could use to serve others.
Then life changed.
My own health began to decline, and eventually I found myself unable to continue working in the career that had given me such a strong sense of purpose. Going from being the person caring for others to becoming someone facing my own difficult season changed my perspective in ways I never expected.
But I realized something important:
My ability to work had changed. My calling to serve had not.
That realization became Small Things, Big Love.
I may no longer be serving people from an emergency department, but there are still people all around us who are hurting. There are parents struggling to buy diapers. Families choosing between necessities. Children who need clothing, school supplies, books, or a birthday gift. People who need shampoo, soap, laundry detergent, a warm blanket, or simply the reminder that someone cares.
These things may seem small.
But when you're the person who needs them, they aren't small at all.
Small Things, Big Love was created to continue a life of service in a new way—to meet people where they are, help with the needs we can, preserve dignity, offer encouragement, and remind people that they are not alone.
We don't have to solve every problem to make a difference.
We can give one hygiene kit.
We can clothe one child.
We can help one struggling parent.
We can provide one warm blanket.
We can show one person that somebody sees them and cares.
And when a community comes together, all of those small things become something much bigger.
This is more than a project to me. It is the next chapter of my calling to serve.
My prayer is that Small Things, Big Love becomes a place where generosity meets need, neighbors care for neighbors, and God's love can be seen through simple acts of kindness.
Because sometimes the greatest love is shown through the smallest things.
